Build your own version of Cardy
Organize work into workspaces, boards, lists, and cards. Cardy includes drag-and-drop ordering, card details with labels, assignees, due dates, checklists, comments, and activity, plus board search and filters. Workspace owners invite members with expiring links and can share a board publicly as read-only. Built with Layerwise, React, and TanStack Start.
Use Cardy to build a task manager for a small team or your own projects. Boards, lists, and cards give you a familiar kanban workflow, and workspaces keep each team’s boards separate.
What the template includes
- Workspaces with boards, lists, and drag-and-drop cards.
- Card details with labels, assignees, due dates, checklists, comments, and activity.
- Owner-managed invitations, member permissions, and read-only public boards.
The template opens as a local project you can change through the conversation or the code editor. You can inspect the source for this template version before choosing how to extend it.
Copy it and make one useful change
- Install Layerwise and sign in. Choose Use this template, select a team and project name in the app, then choose Copy to Layerwise. Wait for setup and the local preview to finish.
- Start with the lists your team actually moves work through, then decide which card details matter. Keep the workspace membership checks in place when you add fields or views.
- Ask for the change in the project conversation. This prompt is a starting point; adjust it to describe your intended result.
Starter prompt Adapt this board for a content team. Rename the default lists to Ideas, Drafting, Editing, and Published, add a content type field with Article, Video, and Newsletter options, and let me filter cards by content type. Keep drag-and-drop, checklists, comments, and member permissions working.
Check the result before publishing
- Create a workspace, add and reorder cards, refresh, and confirm the order and card details are saved.
- Invite a second account, accept the invitation, and confirm the member can edit cards but cannot change board visibility.
- Make a board public, open it while signed out, and confirm it is read-only.
Invitations are links the owner shares, not emails sent by the app, and other members’ changes appear when the board reloads rather than in real time. Decide whether your team needs email invitations or live updates before publishing.
Use the local preview controls to test the affected path. When it works, publish a release and repeat the check at the live URL. For saved records or accounts, read about the separate Local and Online databases.
