Vibe coding
Also called vibecoding or AI-assisted coding
A way of building software by describing what you want to an AI model and steering the result in conversation, without writing the code yourself.
Build a habit tracker where I can add habits, check them off each day, and see a streak count for each one. Use a clean layout that works on a phone, save the data in a database, and show a friendly empty state before the first habit is added.
Paste into Layerwise or any AI coding tool.
What is Vibe coding?
Vibe coding means you describe the app in plain words, the AI writes the code, and you judge the result by using it. When something looks wrong, you say what to change and try again. Andrej Karpathy coined the term in February 2025, describing it as fully giving in to the vibes and forgetting that the code even exists.
It works best for prototypes, internal tools, and personal projects, where speed matters more than polished code. Small, specific requests work better than one giant prompt: ask for one change, check it in the preview, then ask for the next.
The risk is shipping code nobody understands. Before real users depend on the app, test the important paths, keep a way to undo changes with checkpoints or git, and review anything that touches passwords, payments, or personal data.
Layerwise is built around this loop: it writes the code on your computer, runs it in a live preview, and publishes it with a database, file storage, sign-in, and email already connected.

The instruction you give an AI model. In AI coding tools, the prompt describes what to build or change, and its detail shapes the result.
AI agent
An AI model that works toward a goal on its own by planning, using tools, checking the results, and repeating until the task is done.
Live preview
A running copy of your app beside the code or chat that updates as soon as a file is saved, so you see each change without reloading.
Plan mode
A mode in AI coding tools where the agent researches the project and proposes a step-by-step plan for your approval before it edits any files.
Build it with Layerwise
Describe your app, watch it run in a live preview, and publish it with a database, storage, and sign-in built in.
