Confetti
Also called confetti animation, confetti effect, or celebration animation
A burst of small colored pieces that fly out and flutter down to celebrate a moment, such as finishing signup or publishing a site.

}When the user publishes their first site, fire a confetti burst from the Publish button: about 80 pieces in five brand colors, launched upward in a 110° fan, spinning as they arc and fall over about 2 seconds, then fading out. Use canvas-confetti with disableForReducedMotion: true, make sure the confetti never blocks clicks, and show it only for that first publish.

Confetti explained
Confetti shoots dozens of tiny paper shapes out from a point, usually the button that was just pressed, then lets them arc, spin, and fall under gravity while they fade out. It turns a milestone into a small party and gives a clear "you did it" moment.
Save it for rare, meaningful wins: completing onboarding, a first payment, a launch, a streak. When it fires on every save, it stops feeling special and starts getting in the way. The popular canvas-confetti library draws the pieces on a canvas and removes them when they land.
Keep bursts short (1.5 to 2.5 seconds), launch them from the element the person used, and make sure the pieces never block clicks with pointer-events: none. Under prefers-reduced-motion, skip the burst and keep the success message; canvas-confetti has a disableForReducedMotion option for this.

- Particle background
- A particle background drifts continuously behind content. Confetti is a short burst tied to a single moment.

Frequency of use
The rule that the more often people see an animation, the shorter and subtler it should be, so everyday actions never feel slow.
Particle background
A backdrop of small dots that drift slowly, often linked by faint lines when they pass close to each other, behind a hero or sign-in screen.
